About this Course

20 Hour SAFE Comprehensive: Loan Production for Originators Guided Web-based Course (Course ID: 1338), part of CampusMBA SAFE Act Central is a highly interactive instructor-led online course that focuses on the loan originator pre-licensure education requirements established by the SAFE Act.

Learning Objectives

Participants learn the general loan process from origination to closing. Lessons provide comprehensive information in the areas of federal mortgage related laws, general mortgage knowledge, mortgage loan origination activities and ethics. The course provides a solid foundation of knowledge to prepare participants for the national mortgage licensing exam.
Over a one-week period, students will examine the following topics in great detail:

  • Introduction to Mortgage Banking
  • Eligibility and Income Analysis
  • The Good Faith Estimate and Funds to Close
  • Appraisals and Closing the Loan
  • Fair Housing Laws and Federal Compliance
This course is designed for individuals who are new to the mortgage origination business or those who want to refresh their knowledge with the requirements of the SAFE Act. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
  • Understand general mortgage terms, products and documentation.
  • Recognize closing documents and mortgage fraud.
  • Describe fair and ethical mortgage lending practices.
  • Explain key requirements of federal mortgage related laws.
  • Understand anti-predatory lending laws and the SAFE Act.

The Format

Participants will gain access to important reading material, homework, activities and discussion questions through the course site. Students will be required to:

  • Participate in the "kick off" and "wrap up" conference calls
  • Review the reading materials
  • Submit homework assignments via the Digital Dropbox
  • Participate in the discussion thread
  • Complete one or more quizzes (auto-graded in most cases)

Every student has the opportunity to:

  • Send questions to the instructors at any time through the discussion boards and email
  • Work with the other students directly, if desired

The Loan Production for Originators instructors will:

  • Lead the kick-off and wrap-up conference calls
  • Review and respond to your questions
  • Review homework, activity work, and discussion board postings and provide individual feedback
  • Provide guidance for completing the case studies, quizzes, and final exam
Designation Credit
Successful completion of this event will earn the participant 5 points toward MBA's Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) Designation.
