Residential Underwriter Achievement Certificate
The Residential Underwriter Achievement Certificate recognizes professionals who have achieved a foundation of knowledge in residential underwriting.

The Residential Underwriter Achievement Certificate is the first level (Level I) in the Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU) learning path.

CampusMBA is offering the CRU designation through a partnership with Genworth Financial.

Genworth's underwriting courses and content have been implemented into the program curriculum to enhance CampusMBA's current offerings to the real estate finance industry.

Achievement Certificate Requirements

Experience Level: A minimum of one year industry experience is recommended.
Prerequisites: If you have less than one year of experience in the residential real estate finance industry, it is recommended that you complete a mortgage banking overview course, such as our web-based Mortgage Banking Primer, prior to beginning the program.
Exemptions: An underwriter with more than two years of underwriting experience can test out of Level I curriculum (fees apply). Contact CampusMBA at (800) 348-8653 to learn more about exemption or complete and submit the exemption form.
Education Requirement: Yes, must complete five distance learning courses (25 points).
Participation Requirement: No
Written Exam: Yes, at the completion of each course. In addition, you must take and pass the CRU Level I comprehensive exam.
Oral Exam: No
Continuing Education: No

The Process

1. Enroll in the Residential Underwriter Achievement Certificate program. You can enroll online, or via mail, or fax.

The cost of courses is not included in the enrollment fee. Certificate and designation enrollments fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

2. Complete the coursework. Complete the following four web-based courses:

Acceptable substitutions:
  • Substitute the classroom-based Underwriting University in place of Basic Appraisal Underwriting, Essentials of Residential Underwriting and Underwriting Capstone 101
  • Substitute a certificate in Basics of Desktop Underwriter and Loan Prospector for Underwriting Capstone 101

3. Pass the test. When you have completed the required courses, you may take the CRU Level I comprehensive exam.
